Public Input Wanted - Partisan or Non-Partisan Elections
Public Input Wanted
The City of Albemarle wants your input. For decades the City of Albemarle has been one of only a handful of cities in North Carolina that elects its City Council and Mayor on a partisan basis. The City Council is considering a change to non-partisan elections, meaning a political party affiliation or the petition process for unaffiliated candidates to get on the ballot would no longer be necessary.
The City Council will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, 144 North Second Street, Albemarle, N.C., on February 18, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. concerning the potential change of City of Albemarle to municipal elections from partisan to non-partisan.
The general public is invited to provide comments and input. If interested, please attend the meeting to provide your input. Written comments will also be accepted in lieu of attending the public hearing. Please provide written comments (including name and address) to Nyki Hardy at firstname.lastname@example.org or P.O. Box 190, Albemarle, NC, 28002-0190 no later than February 18, 2019.
