Albemarle Police Department Recognized for Risk Reduction
ALBEMARLE, NC – The Albemarle Police Department successfully completed the Law Enforcement Risk Review Process conducted by the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM). This effort highlights the department's commitment to adhering to risk management and public safety industry standards.
The NCLM Senior Public Safety Risk Management Consultant presented Interim Chief Penny Dunn with a plaque during the City Council meeting held Monday, February 3. This award honors the department's dedication to meeting the high standards outlined in the Law Enforcement Risk Review Process and demonstrates its proactive approach to risk reduction.
“I want to thank each and every member of the Albemarle Police Department for their efforts in helping us successfully complete this rigorous program from the North Carolina League of Municipalities. By following risk reduction best practices, the Albemarle Police Department is better positioned to serve the public while ensuring the safety of APD officers,” said Former Interim Police Chief Penny Dunn.
“Special thanks to former Interim Police Chief Penny Dunn. She did an outstanding job in guiding APD through this process, establishing a strong foundation for me to build on as the new Chief,” said Ryan Manley, Police Chief.
The Law Enforcement Risk Review Process was developed with valuable input from the League’s Police Chiefs Advisory Committee and endorsed by the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police. The Risk Review Process is a voluntary program available to police agencies across North Carolina and has been adopted by numerous departments statewide.
“The commitment of Former Interim Chief Dunn and the departmental staff to uphold best practices exemplifies professionalism and excellence in minimizing risks for both the agency and its officers,” stated Joseph Graziano, Senior Public Safety Risk Management Consultant for the North Carolina League of Municipalities.
The Law Enforcement Risk Review Process is designed to evaluate an agency’s compliance with best practices, judicial decisions, and policies and procedures related to high-liability activities in law enforcement. The successful completion of this process aims to enhance public safety and ensure that critical departmental functions align with industry standards.
The North Carolina League of Municipalities is a membership organization representing 540 municipalities across the state, dedicated to promoting excellence in municipal governance and enhancing the quality of life in local communities.
