APD Issues Arrest Warrants for Individuals Wanted in Two Separate Incidents
ALBEMARLE, NC – On Sunday, November 16, 2025, at approximately 3:36 a.m., officers from the Albemarle Police Department responded to a report of shots fired and a hit-and-run incident in the area of Coggins Avenue.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered a crowd of approximately 50 individuals. One person had injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Emergency medical personnel transported the person to the hospital. Four additional individuals later arrived at the hospital, reporting they had also been struck by a vehicle at the scene.
Investigators learned there had been a physical altercation earlier in the evening at a restaurant involving several individuals. Following a second altercation on Coggins Avenue, a suspect identified as Jamya Funderburk drove a vehicle into the crowd of people at Coggins Avenue. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots during the incident. Officers recovered shell casings and a side mirror cover belonging to the suspect vehicle.
APD has obtained warrants on Jamya Funderburk of Wadesboro, North Carolina, for (1) one count of Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Intent to Kill, Inflicting Serious Injury, and Felony Hit-and-Run.

ALBEMARLE, NC – On Sunday, November 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers from the Albemarle Police Department responded to a report of an assault at a business in the 1400 block of East Main Street. An individual suffered non-life threatening injuries during an altercation there.
While enroute, officers located the suspect vehicle and attempted a traffic stop by activating their emergency equipment. The vehicle failed to stop. The suspect got out of the vehicle and fled on foot in the area Henson Street. As officers pursued on foot, they heard a single gunshot and immediately sought cover.
Members of the department’s Special Response Team conducted a search of a residence where they believed the suspect may have been located. After a search of the residence, the suspect was not located.
The suspect has been identified as Eric Wilhite, of Albemarle, North Carolina. Warrants were obtained for Assault Inflicting Serious Injury, Resisting a Public Officer, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Communicating Threats, and Failure to stop for blue lights and sirens
Investigation indicates this was not a random act and that the parties involved knew each other.
