ALBEMARLE, NC – The City of Albemarle has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the City’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2024.

The City of Albemarle’s annual comprehensive financial report has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report.

"Receiving the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the eighth consecutive year is a testament to our team's unwavering commitment to transparency, accuracy, and accountability,” said Jacob Weavil, Finance Director for the City of Albemarle. “This award is never routine or guaranteed, and it reflects the dedication of our finance staff and the collaborative support of every city department, administration, and council.”

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
