Martha Sue Hall Named 2025 Albemarle Christmas Parade Grand Marshal
ALBEMARLE, NC – Martha Sue Hall has been named Grand Marshal for the City of Albemarle’s 2025 Christmas Parade. The parade will take place on Saturday, December 13, at 4 p.m. in downtown Albemarle.
Hall has dedicated her life to public service and community leadership. Her selection as Grand Marshal honors decades of tireless work on behalf of Albemarle, Stanly County, and communities across North Carolina.
She currently serves as President of the North Carolina League of Municipalities (NCLM), where she advocates for more than 540 towns, cities, and villages statewide. Hall is the first person from Albemarle to hold the position of NCLM President.
Locally, she has served on the Albemarle City Council for 22 years, including as Mayor Pro Tem since 2015, and previously served six years on the Stanly County Board of Commissioners, where she was the first woman elected to the board.
Throughout her career, Hall has held numerous leadership roles, including on the Centralina Regional Council of Governments Executive Board, the League’s Board of Directors, and the League’s Risk Management Board of Trustees. For the past 18 years, she has also served on the North Carolina Child Fatality Task Force, chairing the Unintentional Death Prevention Subcommittee for the past 12 years.
Hall retired in 2014 after more than 30 years with the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts, where she helped develop and implement programs such as Drug Treatment Courts, Family Court, Truancy Court, and the Guardian ad Litem Program. In recognition of her service, she received the Order of the Long Leaf Pine, one of the state’s highest honors. Hall was recently honored by the Retired Government Employees Association with the Vann Langston Public Service Award in recognition of her extraordinary service to our community and the state of North Carolina.
Beyond her work in local government, Hall teaches second-grade swimming lessons at the YMCA, plays piano weekly at Trinity Place, Spring Arbor, and The Taylor House. Since 2020, Martha Sue Hall has played a key role in launching and supporting the Pfeiffer Pfriends program, which assists PA and OT students at Pfeiffer’s Center for Health Sciences. The program has served more than 200 students so far. She also generously volunteers with numerous local organizations.
Members of the public are invited to participate in the Albemarle Christmas Parade by registering their entries at www.albemarlenc.gov/christmas . The final deadline for parade entries is December 1.
