At approximately 4 p.m. on January 1, 2026, the Albemarle Fire Department responded to a fire at a vacant home in the 400 Block of Summit Avenue.

When units arrived, heavy smoke and fire were coming from the roof and windows of the home. The fire was contained and quickly brought under control by fire personnel. No injuries were reported.

In accordance with protocol, the Albemarle Fire Department Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
