The City of Albemarle will host an open forum to discuss upcoming improvements to Fourth Street as part of a redevelopment in the Five Points Redevelopment area.
The open forum will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Location: Council Chambers, City Hall; 144 N. Second Street, Albemarle, NC 28001
The City of Albemarle is undertaking a series of streetscape enhancements along North Fourth Street—from Main Street to North Street—as part of a broader effort to revitalize the Historic Five Points District. These improvements will include:
- Sidewalk and streetscape upgrades from curb to storefront/property lines
- Beautification features such as trees and lighting
- Utility relocations and electrical conduit installations
- Street parking and pedestrian safety improvements
- Integration with existing downtown enhancements
During the forum, representatives from the City and project consultants will present conceptual design plans and answer questions about the scope, proposed timeline, and future phases of the project. Your input is valuable as we move forward with planning and implementation.
We encourage all residents and property owners along Fourth Street to attend and participate in this important conversation about the future of your neighborhood.
If you have any questions prior to the event, please contact the Department of Economic Development at lalmond@albemarlenc.gov or 704-984-9419.
