Residents Celebrate Financial Literacy Program Success

The City of Albemarle Public Housing Department is proud to recognize several residents who successfully completed a Financial Literacy Program. This program is a key initiative designed to empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to achieve financial stability and prepare for homeownership.

Certificates of Achievement were presented by Ms. Tina Townsend of Uwharrie Bank to residents and Public Housing staff.

The program covered essential topics, including:

· Credit Scores & Credit Reports – Understanding what impacts your score

· Budgeting – Creating a realistic plan for your money

· Debt Reduction – Smart strategies to lower debt

· Preparing to Buy a Home – Steps toward ownership

Public Housing Director Renae Miller shared her enthusiasm for the program’s impact:

“This partnership with Uwharrie Bank goes beyond financial education. This program is all about creating new opportunities. Our residents now have tools and opportunities that bring homeownership within reach.”

Four women stand side by side in a classroom, three holding framed certificates of achievement for completing the financial literacy program from Uwharrie Bank. One of the most significant benefits of earning a Uwharrie Bank Certificate of Achievement is its role in the homebuying process. When residents begin the journey toward purchasing a home, they can present their certificate to a Uwharrie Bank loan officer or financial advisor to qualify for down payment assistance, a meaningful step toward financial empowerment and creating pathways to homeownership.
