Head‑On Collision & Traffic Fatality

Albemarle, North Carolina – On May 27, 2026, at approximately 11p.m., emergency personnel responded to a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 52 near the Northeast Connector.

Investigation indicates a vehicle traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 52 crossed the center line and struck a vehicle traveling southbound head‑on.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene.

Tiffany Mauldin, age 34, of Stanly County has been identified as the deceased driver.
