Fatal Collision Involving Vehicle and Bicycle
ALBEMARLE, NC – On June 12, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Albemarle Police Department responded to a vehicle–bicyclist collision at the intersection of Love Street and Wiscassett Street.
Veronica Lynn Harvey, 50, of Albemarle, was traveling south on her bicycle when a pickup truck driven by Edgar Petatan was traveling east on Wiscassett Street. The vehicles collided, throwing Ms. Harvey from her bicycle and causing severe injuries. Mr. Petatan was charged with No Operator’s License (NOL).
Due to the severity of her injuries, Ms. Harvey was airlifted to the hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. The Albemarle Police Department Traffic Team is handling the ongoing investigation.
