Man Arrested, Charged in Inger Street Shooting

ALBEMARLE, NC – On July 12, 2026, at approximately 12:52 p.m., officers with the Albemarle Police Department responded to the 1400 block of Inger Street after receiving a report of a man armed with a gun.

Upon arrival, officers located two male victims, each suffering from serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Both were conscious and alert when officers arrived. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Detectives from the Albemarle Police Department and personnel from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) are investigating. This was not a random act, and the suspect was known to the victims.

The suspect has been identified as Devonte Jayshun Wall age 26 of Albemarle. Wall was arrested and charged with:

2 counts of 1st-degree attempted murder

2 counts of Shooting into an occupied dwelling
