The City of Albemarle continues to monitor the rapidly evolving events related to Coronavirus COVID-19. Following recommendations from the North Carolina Governor’s Office, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS), and North Carolina Department of Public Health (NCDPH), and the recent action from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) and Stanly County Schools (SCS), the City of Albemarle Parks & Recreation Department will suspend all programs and events of 100 or more people, athletic league activities, and facility rentals at Niven Center and Waddell Center effective Friday, March 13, 2020 through Monday, April 6, 2020. This may change as the response to Coronavirus evolves.
Programs effected by these suspensions:
Mini Medley Relay – March 21
Dixie Youth League Baseball - suspended through May 1
Adult Softball League - cancelled
Pickleball League - suspended through May 1
Kite Building Workshop and Golden Shoe Event - cancelled
Bryan Saint Magic Show - postponed until June 19
Easter Egg Hunt - cancelled
Senior Games - postponed until late May
Facilities effected by closures:
Waddell Center – 621 Wall St.
Niven Center - 1816 E. Main St.
Albemarle Neighborhood Theater - 219 E. North St.
Playgrounds & Picnic Shelters at all Parks are closed.
