The EE Waddell Community Center is located on the site of the former Kingville High School, which closed in 1967. Keeping the foundation of learning, this facility continues to develop hearts and minds of all ages and abilities.
E.E. Waddell is home to our After-School Program, 8-week Summer Camp, the Uwharrie Senior Games Office and several staff led community events. The facility also hosts instructor led programs such as the Indoor Pickleball Ladder League, Girl Gang and Line Dance.
The Gym, Computer Lab and Weight room offer open hours for unstructured leisure. Youth will need to be monitored & supervised in each room.
Through a partnership with the Albemarle Rotary Club, the Community Center’s former football field has been converted into a multi-purpose athletic field featuring combination baseball ready field and open grassy area. The surrounding .1 paved track adds solid walking, rolling, or strolling space. Two corners of the track contain butterfly gardens while our newest community garden is installed and being prepared to teach and feed youth participants.
