Chuck Morehead and Rock Creek pools have closed for the the 2025 season!

Parks and Recreation operates and maintains two recreational swimming pools for the use of community. All ages can play, swim, relax, and enjoy healthful aquatic activities. City pools are scrupulously clean, hygienic, safety-equipped and supervised at all times.

Located in the 65-acre Chuck Morehead Memorial Park, the pool features shallow and deep ends, a diving board, picnic tables, and shade structures.

Located in Rock Creek Park, Rock Creek Pool features shallow and deep ends, a diving board, and a grassy picnic area. Rock Creek Pool offers swim lessons for ages 6 months through adult.

Glass bottles are NOT permitted

Alcohol is NOT permitted

Flotation Device Rules

Albemarle Parks and Recreation provided personal flotation devices are allowed at City of Albemarle Parks & Recreation pools at any time. All personal flotation devices are level 3 United States Coast Guard approved.

Patrons wishing to use a personal flotation device in the pool will be asked to stay in the shallow end of the pool, between the 1 foot – 3 feet depth marks.
Patrons wearing a personal flotation device in the pool will need to be accompanied by an adult in the pool and must stay within arm's reach of the patron with the personal flotation device.
Personal flotation devices are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Puddle jumpers, floats, and other toys are not allowed.

Diving Board Rules

Patrons wishing to use the diving board will have to pass a lifeguard administered swim test. Swim test will only be conducted during an hourly break. A modified swim competency sequence will be the standard.

Participants must complete the following without stopping or holding onto the wall:

1. Jump off side and resurface

2. Tread/float in water for one minute

3. Swim to other side of the deep end

4. Exit pool without help

Patrons who pass the swim test without concern will be given an arm band to wear to access the diving board. Lifeguards have the right to not give a wristband and to take away the privilege of using the diving board. No masks or goggles will be allowed while jumping off diving board.
