He's excited to be developing some new programs, events and trips for the Summer and Fall. Don't miss out on all of these great opportunities for adults 50 and older. 

  • Introduction to Low-Impact Resistance Training @ EE Waddell Recreation Center:  Join us for a six-session introductory course on resistance training to discover what you can do to improve bone and muscular stability and strength.  Each session is unique and will teach you stretches and exercises that you can work on to improve your physical health as you age

  • Senior Games Summer Fun Day Cookout 2025 (August 8) 9:30am-12:30pm @ EE Waddell Recreation Center:  Join us for an exciting rotation of Senior Games activities such as cornhole, croquet, football/softball throw, basketball shooting, bocce, and pickleball.  We will wrap up the event with a hotdog lunch and fellowship.

 

  • Stanly Senior Services STEP-Tember (September 1-30).  Call 704-986-3769 to register.  We will be teaming up across the county and counting our steps to achieve our goal.  We will be getting together every Tuesday in September at a different walking location to walk as a group and fellowship with other seniors. Kickoff event is August 26 at 2pm at the Stanly County Senior Center.

 

  • Uwharrie Senior Games Mini-Leagues (August- December):  Are you interested in or curious about some of the events in Senior Games, come out and learn/compete twice per week over three weeks per game.  First meeting will be a clinic, followed by 4 dates of league play, then a tournament on the sixth date.

 

  • Pickleball League for Beginners Only:  Join us for a 6-week Beginners Pickleball League for Seniors @ EE Waddell Gym.  The program will start with two introductory clinics to learn rules of the game and technique/skills.  Participants will then compete against each other in Round-Robin format.  We will conclude with a tournament.

 

  • Seniors-Walking/Hiking Club:  Join us for a 5-week walking/hiking club for seniors.  We will meet twice per week to gather in the fresh air, get some exercise, while enjoying the company of other seniors.  We will alternate walking sites between EE Waddell walking track, City of Albemarle Designated walking paths, City Lake Park, Rock Creek Park, and possibly Morrow Mountain. 10am-11am Tuesdays & Thursdays October 21-November 20

 

  • Senior Fall Fun Day:  Tuesday, 11/4 11:30am-2:30pm:  Lunch and fellowship at 11:30 followed by activities: Bingo, bocce, cards, cornhole, disc golf, football throw, Jenga, kickball, ladder ball

  • Kannapolis Cannonballers Baseball-Afternoon/Evening Trip (July 29):  Bus will leave EE Waddell at 5:30pm and return around 10:30pm.  Participants can provide their own transportation if they wish.  Cost is $22 per participant (Loge Box Ticket).  Bring extra money if you wish to purchase food and beverages or team merchandise.  Limit of 13 total participants.

  • Winston Salem Ghost Tour:  Join us Wednesday, October 15 for a historic Ghost Tour trip in Winston Salem!  The bus will leave EE Waddell at 2pm and return around 9pm.  $25 Resident / $30 Non-Resident per person.  Please bring extra money for food as we will eat an early dinner before the tour.

  • Caesars Casino in Danville, Virginia:   Join us Wednesday, November 19 for a day trip to Virginia to press our luck at the casino!  The bus will leave EE Waddell at 8am and return around 4pm.  $40 Resident / $48 Non-Resident per person.  Bring money for lunch and gambling/food/beverages.

  •  College Football Game:  We are exploring the opportunity to take a group to a college football game one Saturday this fall.  We are looking at UNC vs. Wake Forest on November 15th (time TBD). $40 Resident / $48 Non-Resident per person.
