Neighborhood Services

The City of Albemarle’s Code Enforcement Program, housed within the Neighborhood Services Division of the Planning & Community Development Department, works to maintain safe, healthy, and well-maintained neighborhoods throughout the community.

Code Enforcement staff help ensure that properties are used and maintained in accordance with the City of Albemarle Code of Ordinances, including regulations related to property maintenance, zoning, nuisances, and unsafe structures.

Our goal is to work with residents, property owners, and businesses to resolve issues quickly and promote voluntary compliance whenever possible.

What Code Enforcement Does

Code Enforcement Officers investigate concerns related to property conditions, land use, and other ordinance violations that may affect the safety, appearance, and quality of life in Albemarle’s neighborhoods.

Staff work collaboratively with other departments and agencies when needed, including the  Albemarle Police and Fire Departments and Stanly County Permitting and Planning Departments.
