The Subdivision Ordinance outlines the minimum design standards and requirements for development within the City of Albemarle, including:

• Street design and layout standards
• Preliminary and final plat requirements
• Review procedures for exempt, minor, and major subdivisions
• Required improvements for new development

All development is subject to applicable regulations, including subdivision, zoning, floodplain, and watershed ordinances.

How to Apply for a Subdivision

To submit a subdivision or recombination plat for review:

1. Complete the Application for Subdivision Review
2. Pay all required application fees at City Hall 
3. Submit your application and a digital copy of the plat to the Subdivision Administrator

Important:

Applications submitted without the required fee will not be accepted or reviewed. Online payments are not currently available.

Additional materials may be requested during the review process.

Pre-Submittal Meetings are Now Required

All subdivision applications require a Pre-Submittal Meeting prior to acceptance.
