Courthouse Plaza 

Courthouse Plaza is a new public gathering space in a former alleyway which stretches from West Main Street to King Avenue.

Live Camera On Courthouse Plaza Floral MuralThe Courthouse Plaza project is part of a downtown streetscape masterplan, which has produced several upgrades to the downtown area including new navigational signage, new banners on light poles, new outdoor furnishings, and other beautifications.    

Funding for the project has been made possible by the federal government's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The alleyway is a portion of a road that surrounded the courthouse originally located where the intersection at the square now exists. Click here to see a live view.

Second Street

Camera Shows Charters Of Freedom on Second StreetOn the right side of the picture, you’ll see the Charters of Freedom. These brick displays hold life size bronze replicas of our nation’s founding documents. Just past the Charters of Freedom, on the right side, is Albemarle City Hall. Next door to City Hall is Central United Methodist Church. You can see steeple just to the right of the flagpole.  

On the opposite side of the street, in the distance, is the former Albemarle Hotel which underwent a historic renovation and features apartment living and restaurant space. Click here to see a live view.

Market Station

Patrons Visiting Farmers MarketMarket Station is a beautifully restored train station, perfect for weddings, receptions, corporate events, or any other special occasion. Market Station is home to the Downtown Albemarle Farmers Market. The Farmers Market is every Saturday from May to October. The market is also open Wednesdays June to August.
