"I'm incredibly grateful to the Mural Subcommittee members for their time and thoughtful leadership throughout this process. We were thrilled by the creativity and quality of the submissions we received. The mural will play an important role in enhancing Courthouse Plaza and continuing the revitalization of downtown Albemarle." — Katie Lynn, Main Street Manager, City of Albemarle

About the Selection Process
The artist was selected through a competitive, community-driven process led by the Mural Subcommittee, a committee of Albemarle Downtown's Design Committee. The seven-member subcommittee represented the Stanly County Arts Council, Stanly Arts Guild, Albemarle Downtown's Design Committee, the building owner, downtown businesses, the Historic Resources Commission, and a professional artist. Over the course of 10 meetings and 65 volunteer hours, the committee reviewed 28 submissions, narrowed the field to 4 semi-finalists, and conducted interviews before making a final selection.

This project was made possible through grant funding and reflects the City's ongoing investment in arts, culture, and the revitalization of downtown Albemarle, creating a vibrant destination that enhances quality of life for citizens and visitors, and strengthens the local economy.
